Party Poker, one of the world’s leading poker rooms, has been around a long time, yet has never had Mac compatibility, until now. Several recent releases have helped make Party Poker for Mac users available.

We will take a look at these recent developments and show you how you can play Party Poker for Mac. These developments signal the end of the incompatibility of poker rooms for Mac users.

Party Poker’s New No Download Software

Update october 22, 2007: Party Poker has added features to its no download software, best known as “Party Poker Anywhere” software. The software now allows players to play tournaments and shares most of the features found on the PC download version.

Unknown to the poker playing world, Party Poker has been working for some time on a no download version of their revolutionary software.

It is because of this that Mac users can now enjoy Party Poker without having to do a major runaround. As of September 20, 2006, the no download software allows players to participate in real money ring games.

Party Poker’s Native Mac Software Download

Update October 22, 2007: Party Poker has announced that they will no longer support the download for Mac poker players.

There has been rumor of a downloadable Mac software becoming available for Macs, and I’m here to confirm that this rumor is indeed true. Although it is little known, you can find this downloadable software being tested at PartyPoker.com.

Even though this is not currently available at PartyPoker.com, it will only be a matter of time before the development is complete and will be opened to real money Mac poker players.

Using Apple Boot Camp

The other major development is the new Apple Boot Camp software which will install Windows XP on Intel-based Macs. Basically, a separate hard drive partition will be created, upon which Windows will be installed. The machine can then be started up in Windows, or just run normally. It will run as if you’ve had Windows installed all along, and will be able to perform all of the tasks that Windows can accomplish, including playing Party Poker for Mac.

Install a PC Emulator

If you have a non-Intel based Mac, you can use a PC emulator to play Party Poker for Mac. PC emulators simulate a Windows environment, allowing software such as Party Poker to run on the Mac. One of the most popular and stable PC emulators is known as Virtual PC, and has a price tag between $80 and $200.
