Update October 22, 2007: Neteller no longer allows US registrations. Shortly after the UIGEA passed, executive members of Neteller were indited and accused of money laundering, and were lated convicted of this charge. The US Department of Justice froze US member’s assets held by Neteller in the month of January 2007. The money stood frozen for until July 2007 when they were finally released.
Neteller continues to prohibit US member registrations. Non-US members continue to use Neteller as normal
Neteller is one of the best ways to fund your online poker accounts. Neteller allows you to transfer money online, and it is very easy to use and very secure as well. Neteller is one of the safest methods to transfer your money. You can transfer funds into your poker accounts via Neteller without any fees. Nearly all online poker rooms and casinos accept Neteller, so if you have a Neteller account, you’ll be covered no matter where you like to play.
Setting Up a Neteller Account
Neteller’s sign-up process may seem a bit lengthy, but Neteller does a good job in making the entire process very simple. To sign-up, you first need to go to Neteller.com and click on the “open account” button. You will then provide Neteller with some basic information, after which a verification email is sent to you. This verification email will take you to another Neteller page which will ask for some more information.
You’ve now signed up an account with Neteller, but now you need to certify your account. American users can certify their account by verifying a bank account, while other users may certify by faxing a copy of their passport and a copy of the front and back sides of a personal credit card.
Neteller verifies bank accounts by making a very small deposit into your bank account. For me this amount was eighteen cents. Once this transaction appears on your bank statement you can go to Neteller’s “Verify your account” page and enter the amount that Neteller deposited into your account. Your deposit limit will be raised to $750.00 per week. You can raise your deposit limit further by fulfilling more requirements.
If you want higher deposit limits, Neteller’s helpful support staff will help you out. It will usually take between 2 to 4 days to transfer money between your bank account and your Neteller account.
Using Neteller at Online Poker Rooms
When you want to use Neteller to fund an online poker or online casino account, just go to the site’s cashier and choose the Neteller option. You must then fill in the required information, including the amount that you wish to transfer. Your poker or casino account will immediately be funded and you can start playing for real money.
Neteller and Credit Cards
You may deposit up to $3000 by credit card over a 30 day period once you have been certified. Most credit cards consider Neteller to be a cash advance.
Neteller Fees
Neteller has an InstaCash option where you can immediately transfer money from your bank account to your Neteller account. However, there is an 8.9% fee on this transaction, so it is generally advisable to wait a few days and avoid this fee altogether. There is also a 3.9% fee on credit card deposits.
Neteller Tips
- Use the email address you use with Neteller with all of your poker rooms. You can change your poker room email address to match your Neteller address.
- Because it takes a few days to transfer money into Neteller from your bank account, it is wise to keep a little bit of money in Neteller in case you want to make an impromptu money transfer.
- When you withdraw from Neteller, you need to withdraw money in the same way that you deposited it. For example, if you deposited $50 via credit card then you must withdraw $50 via credit card. Once this requirement has been met you can withdraw money through whichever method you prefer.
